Closure Announcement – The Bluebell Foundation
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of The Bluebell Foundation, which has been supporting individuals and families across South Cumbria since its founding in 2007.
We are incredibly proud to have provided grief support to so many people over the years. However, after much consideration, the trustees have made the difficult decision to close the charity. This decision has not been taken lightly and is primarily due to increasing work and family responsibilities, as well as the ongoing demands of fundraising.
As a result, we are no longer able to accept new referrals, and we will not be making any further appointments with our practitioners, Jo and Joy.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those who have supported us throughout the years – whether through donations, fundraising, or volunteering. Your generosity and commitment have meant the world to us. We are also grateful to the organisations that provided us with grants, enabling us to continue our work for as long as we did.
Although there is no service quite like The Bluebell Foundation currently available in South Cumbria, we trust that you will find the support you need through the following organisations:
-
- Tigerlily Trust – Email: info@tigerlilytrust.co.uk
- Family Bereavement Support Service, St Mary’s Hospice – Tel: 01229 580305
- Cancel Care – Tel: 01229 836926
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible affiliated charities and supporters who have stood beside us over the years:
Dennis Horan – Our dedicated Patron for many years. Thank you for generously giving your time to support our events, especially the Annual Pumpkin Ball – a fun-filled Halloween celebration that brought joy to many and raised essential funds. At our last Pumpkin Ball, we raised an amazing £1,000 – an unforgettable achievement.
HMS Agamemnon – Thank you for your unwavering support in raising awareness and funds for The Bluebell Foundation. We are especially grateful for:
-
- Taking on the Cumbrian Way, walking 70 miles over five gruelling days and raising £1,500
- Organising a charity football match: Royal Navy Representatives vs Barrow AFC
- Supporting the Annual Pumpkin Ball
- Hosting the Charity Navy Christmas Quiz
Your commitment has helped us continue providing free support to those who needed it most.
Graham Scrogham, Mayor of Ulverston – We are grateful for your continued support and for choosing The Bluebell Foundation as one of your mayoral charities. Your efforts have significantly raised awareness of our work within the community.
We will forever be thankful to every individual who supported us – whether through time, donations, or kind words.
With our warmest wishes,
The Trustees and Practitioners of The Bluebell Foundation
