Welcome to the Bluebell Foundation Website
The loss of a pregnancy, death of a baby, infant or child, or the struggle to conceive can have a real impact on the families involved.
The Bluebell Foundation provides support for people experiencing grief associated with loss during pregnancy, death of a baby, child or young person, those with fertility issues and families where a child has life-limiting or life-threatening illness.
We also provide support for children and young people up to the age of 18 who are grieving through the death or anticipated death of someone important to them.
We hope to enable families to begin to understand their grief. We cannot replace the life lost but we can try to help people cope with the loss.
The Bluebell Foundation was formed in 2007 by a group of people who have been through a similar or the same experiences. They felt setting up this charity would help people through such a traumatic time, and help them talk to other people who have suffered the same or similar loss.
The Bluebell Garden
This is dedicated to all children who have died during pregnancy, at or after birth or during childhood.
It is a place to remember, meditate and pray. A place to come away from the hospital for a quiet time.
The garden is situated in the hospital grounds of the Furness General Hospital, Barrow at the top of the lower car park.
Major Fundraising Events in 2012
This year we have two major fundraising events. In August, Mark Gibbons is organising a sponsored tandem skydiving event at Cark airfield. Mark was hoping to get 10 people to take part. We can announce that we have now filled 80 places, therefore the event will now take place over 2 days. We will keep you posted with details about this 2 day event. Mark has also arranged an auction night in June. Please see our Events page for further information. Please note that this was to be held at the Engineers but is now being held at the Nines.
In September this year Nicola Bowman is undertaking a sponsored expedition to the Everest Base Camp.
If you are interested in sponsoring any of the participants please contact us. Please see our contact details at the bottom of this page.
